What people say….

We had the pleasure of staying at The Cottage at Priory Mill in September and it was an absolute delight. This secluded gem is nestled in a tranquil river-front setting, offering the perfect escape and yet within spitting distance of Hay-on-Wye and Crickhowell which made it a really convenient choice for exploring the area.

Noel and Susie welcomed us with open arms and displayed genuine warmth throughout our stay. Their hospitality was impeccable, striking a perfect balance between being attentive and respecting our privacy. It’s clear that they have poured their hearts and souls into this property.

The cottage itself is a masterpiece of restoration and design. Every detail has been thoughtfully and lovingly attended to, with a keen eye for authenticity. The use of local artisan materials and paints adds a unique and rustic charm to the place – it’s a testament to Noel and Susie’s dedication to preserving the heritage of Priory Mill Farm.

What impressed us the most was the serene ambiance. Tucked away in this picturesque location, you can truly disconnect from the world and enjoy the peacefulness of nature. Yet, it’s just a short walk into town, making it convenient for dining out and exploring Brecon.

The Cottage at Priory Mill exceeded our expectations in every way. It served as an ideal base for walking in the nearby National Park and provided an unforgettable retreat. I highly recommend this hidden treasure for anyone seeking a restorative and authentic Welsh countryside experience. We can’t wait to return.

This was our second time staying at the granary cottage and we enjoyed the experience even more than the first time (and that was pretty good!) We were lucky enough to see kingfishers and horseshoe bats whilst sitting by the riverside at priory mill and on clear nights the starry night sky was awesome. We enjoyed two days pottering in Brecon (a stones throw away) and walked to the viaduct near Talybont (on Noel’s recommendation) and had lovely days out to bohemian hay on Wye, Rhayader(red kite spotting) and the pretty town of Usk (all within an hours drive) , not forgetting the lovely priory ruin at Llanthony. Our jack Russell terrier Jimmy enjoyed his morning romps in the woods opposite and was beside himself with glee most of the holiday. A wonderful relaxing holiday and great value too. Highly recommended.

Stayed here in Feb. Rented the cottage. Lovely place in a very peaceful riverside setting with all amenities you’d expect. The hostess was very welcoming. Would we stay again? Absolutely. Within easy reach of the good walking available in and around the national park.

We have again enjoyed staying in your wonderful cottage (4th time!) in the beautiful setting of Priory Mill with the river running past it. The walks we have done in the Beacons and Hay have been superb (even if a bit muddy!) and the views truly splendid, especially with all the May blossom. After Hay Festival events, we have been glad to come back to our cosy retreat and relax in it’s pleasant surroundings. We hope to return again!

Wonderful holiday, perfect surroundings! Thanks so much for your hospitality, the cottage was perfect …. so hard to find in such an ideal location! Wonderful walks, fantastic scenery and a cool dog called Podge and even trout for supper from the river on a few occasions! Couldn’t have asked for more and hope to see you again soon.

A beautiful, peaceful place – impossible to sum up in just a few words. Especially loved the hens, the swallow’s acrobatics and the wrens taking their evening dip in the guttering on the barn. Thanks you for a lovely week. Hope very much to be back.

Very relaxing and enjoyable week. The seat by the river is a peaceful way to forget about the modern world and concentrate on the Kingfishers, Wagtails and Dippers. Thanks to Susie and Noel for the most comfortable and cosy cottage.
